What is the best tent for a Jeep Wrangler and what do I need to mount it?
Jeeps are one of the most popular vehicles we mount on! There are a few ways to do it, let's get into it.
First off you will need a roof rack. Something with 2 bars that go horizontally across the roof. All Roofnests require this to be able to be mounted. A platform rack will work as well but we almost always suggest crossbars as they are cheaper and easier to deal with.
For crossbars, we recommend looking at the offerings from SMS parts. They have a unique system where they use weight-distribution feet so that you can use a normal crossbar on top of the Wranglers roof. Because most bars are only supported by the rain gutters, they are too weak to mount a RTT on.
For some other rack options check out this link. Just be sure to double-check the weight ratings. You will need a dynamic load capacity of around 135 lbs or more. The crossbar systems that are not drilled into the roof or are only supported by the rain gutters will NOT work.

As far as tent recommendations, the Wrangler can support most of our tents. Before you pick an XL model, bust out the tape measure and see if you would be OK with the roof overhangs.
2 Door Wranglers are almost always best to stick with the Condor tent as it is the most compact when folded up.
