How do I install a tent on a truck?
The short answer is, It depends!
Check out this video below to give you some general guidance on racks, tent selection, and installation.
If you want the tent over the bed of your truck there are a few options.
The two racks you would want to look into are called 'bed-racks' and 'ladder-racks'. They are essentially the same thing with ladder racks just being an elevated version of a bed rack.
If you are looking at mounting the Sparrow or the Falcon over your bed, we highly suggest going the ladder rack route, so the tent can be pushed forward over the top of the cab until it is even with your tailgate. If you go with a bed rack, those tents will likely extend far over the tailgate of your truck due to their length. The Condor tents are great for bed-racks since they are much shorter length wise.
Remember- the tape measure is your best friend! Please reference the tent dimensions on each product page and compare them to the dimensions of your bed.
If you have a topper, pretty much any tent will do! Just make sure to check with your topper manufacturer to make sure it has a 130+ lbs weight capacity and has crossbar compatibility.
For ladder and bed racks, head over to www.etrailer.com and put in your truck's info. Then navigate to the bed rack/ ladder rack tab. You will see a ton of options- almost all will work with our tents. It would just come down to your preference and price point.
